What is Salt Brine?
Salt brine is water saturated with sodium chloride (rock salt dissolved in water to put it simply). Salt brine is used by many communities and counties in the area as an anti-ice tool. It slows the formation of ice on streets and also helps prevent the bond of snow and ice to the pavement, making snow removal easier.
Benefits of Brine vs Rock Salt
- Brine works much faster than rock salt to get rid of the ice and snow on the pavement.
- Brine leaves little to no residue compared to rock salt.
- Environmentally friendly = less chlorides and storm sewer runoff.
- After Brine is sprayed on the parking lots it doesn't track into the retail stores as much as rock salt and salt. This means less cleanup and wear and tear on the flooring.
